摘要
Material evaluation is used to assess the properties and behaviours of differentmaterials. As structural components fail due to fracture or excessive deformation, the primary goal of this study is to determine how a test sample reacts when twisted and subjected to torsional stresses. Which results to the applied moments that create shear stress along the axis. Torsion testing of basic grade mild steel with an axial torsional testing equipment is one type of test used to assess the torsional characteristics of the structural material. The authors used two different mild steel cases, case 1 and case 2, with 3.7 mm and 10 mm meandiameters, respectively, to demonstrate the evident modification of parameters during experimental testing. The final characteristics acquired after the torsion test include Modulus of Rigidity, maximum Shear Stress, maximum Torque, and Angle of Twist, and how the material responses in each case, are elaborated in the article using tables and graphs. The mathematical computation is demonstrated in order to validate the data received during the test. It has been found that when the dimensions of the structure's material vary, so does the torque generated over the specimen; hence, for various applications of mild steel, the torque should be in relation to other factors and should not be decreasing. As a result, having more austenite when exposed to torsional strain does not guarantee enhanced ductility.
