Relationship between Academic Stress and Mental Health of Undergraduate Nursing Students

Academic stress is a demand related to academics that tax or exceed the available resources (internal or external) as cognitively perceived by the student involved. Mental health is a state of being which is conducive to harmonious and purposeful living. The objective of the study was to assess the academic stress and mental health of undergraduate nursing students and establish the relationship between them. College of Nursing was selected using convenient sampling and simple random sampling was used to select the students. Structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from the students. The overall mean of academic stress scores and mental scores were 124.4 ± 14.99 and 18.08 ± 3.84 respectively. Majority of students (79%) were in the range of high stress.
