摘要
Abstract Unlike other industries, the textile industry requires a huge quantity of water for desizing, scouring, bleaching, dyeing, finishing, etc., in the tune of 10 times of the textile materials processed. It is a big challenge for every textile industry to treat huge amount of wastewater before environmental discharge. Emphasis has always been given on the recyclability and reusability of used water for a sustainable, zero effluent/discharge textile industry. Hence, various approaches have been evaluated to treat textile wastewater. In this chapter, carbonized jute agrowaste has been discussed as a sustainable raw material to treat textile wastewater. Jute is cultivated mainly for fiber purposes, used mostly for making packaging and industrial textile materials. During the production of jute fiber, around two and half times of jute stick as an agrowaste is generated. However, this huge quantity of jute sticks after suitable carbonizing has a good influence on treating textile wastewater. The present chapter will also cover the sustainability aspects of the carbonized jute agrowaste to combat the challenges of the treatment of the textile industry wastewater in an ecofriendly manner.
