Women's Organizations, Neoliberalism, and Feminism in Poland

This article focuses on how women's organizations that work to support women's participation in the current economic market, mainly in technology and science fields, navigate the Polish neoliberal economy. On the one hand, these organizations attempt to foster women's entrepreneurship, self-sufficiency, and individual responsibility; on the other, they promote collaboration and mutual support among women, sustainable, homegrown enterprises, and gender equality. Based on research conducted in Poland, where I interviewed representatives of nineteen women's organizations whose missions included engaging women in new technologies and helping them to be better prepared for the current job market, I argue that a strand of feminism developing in Poland is a specific mix of neoliberal ethos and feminist practices that creates possibilities for reimagining the economy.
