Numerical simulation of the vascular structure dependence of blood flow in the kidney

•The dependence of renal blood flow on the vascular geometry was clarified.•A simple geometry model for renal vasculature was newly developed.•Our simple model reproduced the published experimentally measured renal blood flow.•The entire vascular network could generate variation in the physiological flow rate in afferent arterioles, which is at least compatible to that generated by diameter variation within the same-generation vessels.
