摘要
•The 2020 to 2030 Future of Nursing report calls upon nurses across all settings, backgrounds, and career stages to lead the charge addressing health inequities.•While traditional leadership frameworks highlight the importance of inclusivity for nursing leaders, new frameworks are needed that center the expertise of all individuals, especially from historically marginalized backgrounds, rather than solely those with traditional leadership positions and power.•Nurses must recognize how racism, sexism, transphobia, ableism, and all forms of structural discrimination impact their work, and embrace intersectionality identity theory's role in producing disparate outcomes•Health systems, academic organizations, and community partners each have key roles to play in steering the profession towards a focus on health equity, and institutions steeped in this work must rectify previous harm to build meaningful community partnerships•Recommendations for the next decade include providing increased support for community-engaged research and education, contemporizing leadership frameworks, investing in nurturing inclusive leadership across all career stages, and providing explicit support for scholars of historically marginalized backgrounds.
