Chaotic vibrations by a novel non-contact piezoelectric actuator

In this study, we developed a novel non-contact piezoelectric actuator based on an elec-tromagnetic modulation mechanism and rigid magnification mechanism. Multi-continuum coupled nonlinear dynamics equations were deduced for the actuator by considering the inherent nonlinearity of the piezoelectric material. The bifurcation and chaotic vibrations of the actuator system were investigated using these equations. Global and local bifurca-tion diagrams were obtained for the vibrations of this actuator system, thereby allowing analysis of the changes in the vibration states of the actuator system according to the main parameters. The conditions were determined for the occurrence of chaotic vibrations in order to understand how chaotic vibration developed in the actuator system. The re-sults obtained in this study can be used to avoid chaotic vibrations and to ensure the good dynamic performance of the actuator. (c) 2022 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
