Continuous Quality Improvement in Prevention of Catheter Urinary Infection

Objective:Indwelling urinary catheter to prevent complications of urinary tract infection continue to improve the quality of care. Method:The establishment of indwelling catheter CQI team,define its role,to develop appropriate quality improvement program. In accordance with the PDCA continuous nursing care quality improvement program. Results:Indwelling catheter in patients with urinary tract infection rate from 24% down to 6.5 percent. May 2009—2010 years,in January of the indwelling catheter in patients with urinary tract infection rate in November 2008 to April 2009 of the indwelling catheter in patients with urinary tract infection rate decreased significantly,there was statistical significance(P0.05). Conclusion:Indwelling catheter in patients on continuous improvement of quality of care to avoid urinary tract infections due to physical damage caused to the patient and psychological stress,reduce health care costs,increase patient satisfaction,they could really take preventive measures.
