Enseñanza del concepto de números decimales y sus operaciones desde las etapas real o concreta, gráfica y simbólica

This article is the result of an investigation conducted by teachers belonging to the Group for Research in Mathematics Education at the University of Quindio (GEMAUQ), which was based on the understanding of the conceptual field operations with decimals, in handling instruments knowledge and execution of intellectual operations, with sixth grade students. The research aims for the mental development of the student in the mathematical aspect of operations with decimal numbers, and the development of processes involving the construction of mathematical knowledge. The target of the research was to design and implement an educational strategy from the real or concrete, graphic and symbolic step that contributes to the development of mathematical thinking in the conceptual field of operations with decimal numbers in the sixth grade students of educational institutions Quindio department officials. The teaching strategy was developed through three stages: the real or concrete, graphic and symbolic. The actual stage involves the manipulation of concrete material where students have the physical experience conducive to acquire skills; that is, it acts on objects for knowledge by abstraction from these same objects. In the graphic stage students through figures represent the issues discussed in real or concrete stage. In the symbolic stage it is intended that students symbolically represent conceptualized issues. Finally students face situations problems after conceptualized give mathematical solution to the situation presented. With the strategy set out in the investigation from the three stages it was achieved that students reach a development of thought and the appropriation of the concept of decimal numbers and operations.
