Swarm Intelligence based Load Frequency Control of Two Area Thermal System – Comparative Analysis

Application of bio-inspired optimization algorithm based controller will address the load frequency control (LFC) problem of the complex power systems to meet the modern requirements. The performance of these optimized controllers is proved to be superior to classical controllers more researchers are concentrating in this area. The Swarm intelligence (S1) based algorithm is employed to optimize the controller parameters for load frequency control. In this article, a comparative analysis is made among different swarm intelligence algorithms adapted for LFC of the thermal system having two interconnected areas with similar objective functions. It will help to identify the optimization technique that can be implemented for the system considered by the researchers for load frequency control.
