Desafios e estratégias para a gestão de coleções de remanescentes humanos na Amazônia

The work highlights the situation of the archaeological collections formed by human remains recovered in Amazonian contexts. The conservation and storage challenges of these collections are related to technical factors and to the archaeological practice itself. Through the research history of the human remains of the archaeological site Curiau Mirim - I, AP, (considering the entire process of excavation and curation), we intend to observe problems common to institutions and collections in the Amazon. The solutions and reflections, albeit not concluded, point to the importance of curation as a scientific management tool and responsible for the collections. In addition, we discuss the need for specialized professionals, ethical approaches to sensitive materials and the strengthening of collaboration networks between people and institutions.
