The objective was to verify the effect of the bull (father) on the performance, carcass yield, rib eye area and subcutaneous fat thickness of Nellore bulls bred in the southeastern region of Para and finished in semi-confinement. We evaluated the initial weight characteristics (IWC) and final (FWC), total live weight gain (LWGt), average daily gain (ADG), carcass yield (CY), hot carcass weight (HCW), area loin eye (ALE) and fat thickness (FT) of 79 bulls. A completely randomized design was used, considering ten treatments (bulls), and the means compared by the Tukey test at 5% probability. The mean IWC of the animals was 472.35 ± 43.27 Kg, and FWC of 606.73 ± 48.63 Kg, LWGt of 134.38 ± 20.24 kg, and ADG of 1.17 ± 0.18 kg / day. There was no significant effect of the bull on most of the characteristics analyzed (p> 0.05). The average ALE was 38.28 cm² (± 7.55), with a range from 34.2 to 43.6 cm², and the average FT was 3.88 mm (± 2.05), with a variation of 3.17 to 4.3 mm. Such results show the need to use bulls with greater genetic value for these characteristics (ALE and FT).
