Low Voltage Ride-Through of Doubly Fed Induction Generator based Wind Energy Conversion System incorporating Step Resistive Fault Current Limiter

This paper proposes a step resistive fault current limiter (SRFCL) for the low voltage ride-through of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) operated wind conversion system (WCS) against fault. The incorporation of SRFCL effectively restricts the uncertainties concerns of the fault like rotor over current, stator over current, DC-Link over voltage and torque oscillations. The efficacy of the proposed scheme is compared with the traditional resistive super conducting fault current limier (R-SFCL) and conventional vector control scheme (VCS). The proposed scheme reveals better effectiveness compared to traditional R-SFCL and VCS. The scheme also claims the achievement with minimum occurrence of switching operation with lower losses. The model is being simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK based environment
