摘要
The paper analyses the Roman funeral monument (late 1st century BC) of Lucius Petronius Primus, coming from the Ateste's country (Veneto Region, Italy) and now preserved at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Both sides present a winged Eros, leaning on a small pillar covered with a cloth. The relief is an original interpretation of a widespread iconographic scheme, whose modification suggests a precise will (by the costumer and /or artisan) to represent the ritual practice of covering the funerary monuments with cloths or bandages, documented in the Greek, Etruscan and Roman worlds, but among the ancient Venetians too.
