摘要
Ovarian stimulation (OS) by exogenous gonadotropins is a common technique both in experimental studies on reproductive biology and in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, the data obtained from some studies indicate that OS may have various negative effects on the quality of oocyte and embryo, and embryogenesis processes. Therefore, it is thought that further studies are needed to examine the possible effects of OS procedures on reproductive and other biological processes. It is reported that serotonin and melatonin are important hormones that have effects on the quality of oocyte and embryo. On the other hand, it is understood that there is no study to examine the effect of different doses of exogenous gonadotropin treatment on these hormones. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to examine the effects of different doses of exogenous gonadotropin on serotonin and melatonin levels in the mouse model. In our study, mice were divided into 4 different groups (n = 6) to treatment with 5, 7.5, 10 and 12.5 I.U. Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotrophin/ Human Chorionic Gonadotropin ( PMSG/hCG). After the treatment with exogenous gonadotropins, levels of melatonin and serotonin were determined by the ELISA method in the plasma samples of the study groups. While there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of melatonin levels, there was a significant difference between the groups in terms of serotonin levels. In intragroup comparisons, it was found that there was a significant increase in the serotonin levels in the group treated with 7.5 IU PMSG/hCG compared to other groups. In conclusion, it is understood that the exogenous gonadotropin doses, which we administrated, did not affect melatonin levels but significantly increased serotonin levels after 7.5 I.U. PMSG/hCG administration compared to other doses. Additional studies to examine the effect of higher exogenous gonadotropin doses on these hormones in animals and also in humans, are thought to contribute to reproductive biology.
