Monte Carlo Simulation of a Dynamic Sieve System

In this paper we present the study of a novel dynamic vacuum system, which is a rectangular channel with a sieve of many slits as a partition plane in the middle. Either the middle plane or the top plane of the system is horizontally oscillating. The transmission probabilities of several system configurations are simulated by the code ProVac3D. This includes different combinations of the position of the moving plane relative to the positions of inlet and outlet of the system, different frequencies, different slit numbers, and different gas species. It is found that the system performances are strongly varying, and the transmission probability depends both on the frequency of the movement and the number of the slits of the sieve. Moreover, it is also found that the transmission probability would be dependent on the mass of the gas molecule. These interesting features open a wide range of possibilities in application of such a dynamic system.
