Machine Tool Running Status Monitoring Technique Based on Human Machine Interface

Conventional geometrical accuracy inspection is only considered within the machine tool test code. Running status tests, including vibration, low velocity crawling, and unbalancing of spindle, are not taken into account, neither are the parameters such as spindle revolution speed and servo axis feed rate. Fluctuation of specific Running parameters has close relationship with comprehensive performance of machine tool, implies the matching optimization level between the mechanical and electrical subsystems, and to a great extent, affects final working accuracy of machine tool. This paper introduces a machine tool running status monitoring technique, which utilizes DDE protocol to collect driving data and NC/PLC variables of CNC system. Running status monitoring system for machine tool was constructed on HMI platform of Siemens SINUMERIK CNC, and in-position tests proved feasibility and effectiveness of the monitoring technique.
