摘要
Present study describes the synthesis of vanadium oxide nanorods (VONRs) via eco-friendly approach by using Tinospora cordifolia leaf extract. The as-synthesized VONRs were characterized by UV-Visible, FT-IR, XRD, EDX, SEM and TGA analysis. The size of VONRs were in the range of 10-40 nm. Further, the XRD data revealed that the as-obtained VONRs has typical orthorhombic phase. The biological activities such as anti-angiogenic, DNA binding and cleaving activity of the as-prepared VONRs were evaluated. Anti-angiogenic activity was carried by shell less Chorio Allantioic Membrane (CAM) assay, DNA binding and cleaving activity were performed using calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) and supercoiled plasmid (pUC19) DNA, respectively. A marked reduction in the proliferation of capillaries around the zone of application of VONRs were observed in the anti-angiogenic assay, suggesting its biological potentiality. Furthermore, the cleavage of supercoiled DNA confirmed the involvement VONRs in the DNA interaction mechanism.
