Synchronized Symmetric Model-View-Controller

In the past two decades the Model-View-Controller pattern has been employed successfully in the development of software systems. In this paper we argue that this model may be improved to support the development of applications running on multiple devices, possibly not always connected. Specifically, we introduce the notion of Symmetric Synchronized Model-View-Controller, in which multiple views and controllers are generated from a single model, and we propose the adoption of synchronization mechanisms based on ideas borrowed from the approaches developed for collaborative software (groupware) communication.
