The Hybrid Fuzzy Sliding-mode Nonlinear Coordination Control Method for Generator Excitation and STATCOM

In this paper, a novel hybrid fuzzy sliding-mode nonlinear coordinated control method (FSMCC) for generator excitation and static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is designed to improve the transmission system stability. Firstly, the mathematical model of generator excitation and STATCOM coordination control is established and accurately linearized. Then the proposed FSMCC is designed such that the stability of voltage of the STATCOM access point and the generator power angle can be simultaneously improved. A one-dimensional fuzzy controller is designed to eliminate the chattering phenomenon introduced by adopting sliding-mode control. Finally, the simulation verification is carried out on a single-machine infinite bus system (SMIB) with STATCOM. Simulation results show that the system states response trajectories possess shorter time and lesser overshoot verifies that the proposed FSMCC can effectively improve the system transient performance.
