Fault-tolerant Reconfiguration Control for the Open-winding Five-phase Inverter under Semi-controlled Condition

This paper proposes two kinds of fault-tolerant reconfiguration strategies for the open-winding five-phase motor drive under the semi-controlled condition. The first one is to connect the ends of stator phases on the out-of-control side to one neutral point in the star type and the other is to connect those ends to the phase legs of the healthy converter in the pentagon type. Compared with the first reconfiguration strategy, the second one improves the voltage utilization ratio by 1.902 while bears increased current stress by 1.902. The simulation results and experimental results verify the feasibility of the two reconfiguration methods.
