Micro gas turbine generation system (MGTGS) has the advantages of low emission, high comprehensive efficiency and fast response. It gradually becomes a distributed power source with the prospect of development in the fields of renewable energy resource and the emergency power supply in hospital. However, the MGTGS does not have the self-starting ability. The permanent magnet machine in the system can be used as the motor to drive the micro gas turbine to start up. In this paper, the simplified model of the micro gas turbine and the mathematical models of the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) and the converter at the grid-side are established. The grid-side converter is controlled by the strategy of grid voltage orientation based vector control, and the PMSM-side converter is controlled by the strategy of vector control based on rotor flux orientation. Modeling and simulation of the start-up control strategy of micro-gas turbine power generation system are implemented. The simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the control strategy.
