A wombat ISA simulation for teaching computer architecture: faculty poster abstract

Many computer science students find computer architecture to be a frustrating topic. Most students prefer creating software to working with hardware abstractions, and initially find the topic irrelevant to future software careers. The situation is further compounded by student experiences which are usually limited to a brief exposure to the foundation of computer architecture in CS0 and "board swapping" in the real world. Students often arrive in a first computer architecture class at least a year after the introduction in CS0 having forgotten all but the general concepts related to the topic.
