The coefficient compensation of damaged element in phase-array radar based on region search method and total weight optimization method

In order not to affect the working of phased array radar with some failed elements, after the research on the internal mechanism of radar array element beamforming, the objective function optimization method is used to gradually reduce the search area and determine the position of the elements with similar directivity to the damaged elements. The side lobe level of the radiation pattern is minimized by the array weight shift and the weight optimization at the damaged position where the difference pattern has a determined null depth value. In this paper, a 196-elements Taylor-weighted antenna is used, three of which are damaged. When the null depth of difference pattern is optimized to -40dB, the side lobe level of the sum pattern is optimized by 3.25db in the x-axis and 9.89dB in the y-axis.
