Hybrid Fuzzy based response surface optimization of welding parameters on Vickers microhardness and impact strength of FSWed AA8011-H24 aluminium alloy joints

Friction stir welding process applied to fabricate the aluminium alloy joints in aerospace, and automotive industries due to various problems occurred in fusion welding process. This investigation carries the optimization of the friction stir welded parameters of AA8011-H24 alloys on the responses using hybrid Fuzzy based response surface methodology. It gives the optimum responses, 57.7 Hv Vickers microhardness, and 12.4 J Impact strength for 2050 RPM rotational speed, 90° tilt angle and 40 mm/min welding speed of the joints. Analysis of variance shows the rotational speed is the dominant parameter on the quality of the joints compared to other parameters.
