Understanding Neurogenic Communication Disorders in a Collaborative Context: A Team-Based Interprofessional Education Approach for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Students

摘要
Purpose Hearing loss is underidentified and undertreated in individuals with neurogenic communication disorders. Interprofessional collaborative practice between audiologists and speech-language pathologists is necessary to provide optimal health outcomes in patients with neurogenic communication disorders, such as dementia and aphasia. Although audiologists reported sizeable patient caseloads involving neurogenic conditions on a recent survey, their collaboration with speech-language pathologists to determine the best hearing/vestibular outcomes was limited (Davis, Choi, Estis, u0026 Gordon-Hickey, 2015).
