摘要
This paper presents a method of identifying and controlling transient instability by using local synchronized phasor measurements. The identification method is based on the real-time tracking of power transfer capability using a classical two-bus Thevenin equivalent network. The power margin is determined for quantifying the proximity to system collapse. A method of combining generator shedding and load shedding for emergency control actions against transient instability is presented. The effectiveness of the proposed method is rigorously tested and verified using the real-time power system simulator hardware-in-the-loop testing platform. The proposed method is simple, computationally very fast and easy to implement in the real-time system. The results are encouraging and appropriate for future integration into the Wide-Area Monitoring, Protection and Control system at TNB.
