Cloud agnostic Big Data platform focusing on scalability and cost-efficiency.

•There is a growing demand for easily deployable big data platform supporting the execution of map-reduce applications.•Apache Hadoop cluster powered by the Occopus cloud orchestrator tool implements an open-source, cloud-agnostic solution.•Combining with service discovery and monitoring tools auto-scaling has been also realised to dynamise resource capacity.•Based on cost analysis, the solution leads to cost reduction in certain use cases compared to commercial solutions.•Short-term and long-term deployments as well as fine-tuning configuration are supported.
