To mass or space? Young children do not possess adults' incorrect biases about spaced learning.

•We examined whether children believe massed learning is superior to spaced learning.•Preschool children did not have a massed bias, but older children did have a bias.•Massed bias was related to children’s age, but not their metacognitive abilities.•New theories are needed to explain the developmental origins of the massed bias.
