Restoring function in paralyzed limbs using EEG
Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems Conference Proceedings(2016)
摘要
This paper introduces a solution for the loss of mobility in hands due to paralysis. The idea is to use EEG detection to bypass the broken connection between the brain and the hand using a system comprising of a commercial EEG headset, computing interface and a dynamically controlled wrist orthosis. The captured raw EEG signals are fed into an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model that learns from the movement trends and later classifies real time data into corresponding open/close movements in the orthosis via a linear actuator. The system is designed to provide as authentic a movement as possible which means focusing on system mobility, power efficiency, latency and accuracy.
