摘要

•FBG strain sensors enabled remote and real-time load monitoring on a true aircraft LG.•Optical data were in good agreement with those provided by reference electrical devices.•FBGs installed on the axle exhibited the highest sensitivity to the applied load.•FBG strain sensors on the axle exhibited a force resolution of 0.01 kN.•An error of ∼0.23% was observed for load estimation.
