Proceedings of the 2nd International Workshop on CrossCloud Systems

The high degree of distribution and heterogeneity in multicloud and federated cloud architectures leads to a massive development and management complexity for application providers. The CrossCloud event series explores the issues around the increasingly relevant field of multicloud and federated cloud systems. This edition of the workshop focuses on the concept of cloud brokering as a means of facilitating the adoption of multicloud architectures by outsourcing the complexity associated with cloud API divergence. More specifically, how could a cloud broker be provided as an intermediate middleware service to different stakeholders, i.e. Broker as a Service (BaaS)? The objective of the workshop is to foster a lively discussion about the theory and practice of cloud brokers, including an interactive and handson session (cf. design (te)charrette). The desired outcomes are to develop a new collective understanding of the key architectural aspects in this field, to come to a holistic architecture of the cloud broker concept, and to motivate future research agendas.
