Analyzing Effect of Organizational Strategies on Organizational results using system dynamics based upon EFQM model

KEYWORDS In today's competitive environment, organizations need to identify their position in the market. Self-assessment is a tool which could be used to measure the competitiveness of organizations on the basis that they may find in their own ways for improvement. Excellence models, including the model developed by European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) provide a framework for self-assessment. To evaluate relationship between Organizational Strategies and Organizational results, a comprehensive model is required, which should be able to capture all aspects of business excellence. The EFQM model consists of two main domains: Enablers and Results. The first domain which includes processes and systems in general, enable the organization to have higher performance or On the other hand, the feedback from the results makes the organization to correct the system. Hence, a dynamic model could be appropriate for analyzing the interrelated behavior of the two main domains as well as those within the criteria and sub-criteria. This research is an effort to find the relationship between Strategies and results through system dynamics tool based upon the EFQM model. Although, there are plenty of papers and case studies on the application and improvement of EFQM model in organizations, very few cases were found regarding the dynamics of the systems. In this paper, a dynamic model is presented in which the EFQM model items are linked through the causal relationships. The advantage is that by changing one parameter in the model, one can find how it could affect other parts of the model including the key results. By this analysis, it could be expected that the efficiency of EFQM model would be improved.
