摘要
Aims: Describe the echocardiographic prevalence and severity of aortic stenosis (AS) in the Australian population. Methods: 144,772 studies (89378 patients 52% male, age 59± 17 yrs) with aortic valve (AV) measures were selected from the Genesis HeartCare database (311,218 studies from 1999 to 2011). Aortic stenosis was graded by AV peak velocity (AvMax)—normal 4.0m/s). AvMax and severity of AS was assessed (mean±SEM) for age (0–100 yrs grouped by decade) using t-test and Chi-square (SPSS v19). Findings: Mean AvMax increased with age (Fig. 1). AS presence increased with age from <1% (0–9 yrs) to 20% (90–99 yrs) (p< 0.001; Fig. 2). Conclusions:Presence and severity ofAS increaseswith age in the Australian population reaching 20% prevalence in the oldest age groups were selected from the Genesis HeartCare database (311,218 studies from QLD, SA, WA, VIC, 1999–2011). E/E′ was used as an estimate of left sided c ( d S
