Optimization with sequential GA and dynamic force analysis of capacitor-driven inductive coilgun

This paper presents an improved method based on Current Hoop Model for the analysis and design of capacitor-driven induction coilgun. For the optimal design, the sequential Genetic Algorithm (GA) method and traditional GA are used. The resultant specifications and characteristics of a six-stage coilgun are obtained by these methods. The comparisons of two optimization methods on the results, characteristics and elapse time are presented. However, the force acting upon the coils and projectile may cause distortion or even destruction. The force distributions of exciting coils and projectile are given to validate the feasibility of the optimized results.
