FEA of shear wall with frame column at the longitudinal direction of the main factory building of a large-scale power plant

Based on a pseudo-static test on a model structure for a main factory building of a large-scale power plant with a longitudinal frame-shear wall structure, the seismic behavior of the shear wall with frame column at the longitudinal direction of the large-scale power plant has been studied. Moreover, the use of a finite element analysis method simplifies the shear wall structure as a multi-vertical-line-element model. In this method the vertical line element is arranged at Gauss integral points. Through this method, the hysteretic curve, skeletal curve, ductility characteristic of shear wall structure can be simulated; meanwhile the calculation efficiency can be greatly increased. Through the comparison of the computational results and the test results of the same model structure, the good agreement between them indicates that the multi-vertical-line-element model proposed here is reasonable and effective in the nonlinear analysis of shear wall structure.
