Numerical simulation and experimental verification on solidifying shell thickness distribution in mold for slab continuous casting

The model and calculation method for slab continuous casting to numerically simulate the three-dimensional distribution of solidifying shell thickness were given. The connection of the regions for flow and heat transfer calculation was put forward by using uncoupled mode with phase transformation. The heat transfer coefficient for the outer surface of slab was determined, so that there is no need to analytically calculate the mold itself.
