Analysis the risk factors of depression occurrence in patients with premature ejaculation from the psychological perspective of sexual partners

Objective To investigate the risk factors of depression occurrence in patients with premature ejaculation (PE) from the psychological perspective of sexual partners. Methods A total of 1807 patients with PE and their sexual partners were enrolled and required to complete a questionnaire from January 2010 to January 2012, which included demographic information, depressive symptoms of PE patients and their partners and factors associated with female partners. Results The prevalence of depression in PE patients (mean age: 30.17±10.09) and their sexual partners (mean age: 27.61±9.54) were 32.32% and 32.69%, respectively. Several factors of their sexual partners including "Attitude toward PE", "Severity of depression", "Satisfaction with intercourse" and "Severity of interpersonal difficulty" were significantly associated with depression grade in patients with (P <0.001). Conclusion Some psychological factors of the sexual partners such as "Attitude toward PE", "Severity of depression", "Satisfaction with intercourse" and "Severity of interpersonal difficulty" might influence depression occurence in patients with PE. Analysis of the risks factors for depression from the perspective of sexual partners is great of significance to detect the psychological problem in men with PE.
