Abstract The IEEE 802.16 standard (commonly known,as WiMax) emerges as a broadband wireless tech- nology covering large geographical areas and still capable of providing high speed data rates of hundred Mbps with inherent QoS. It can provide services in Point to Point (P2P), Point to Multi-Point (PMP) and Mesh mode. The standard does not define any scheduling or admission control mechanism,in mesh mode. Many attempts were made to design scheduling and admis- sion control mechanism but no one was able to exploit the features of WiMax. In this project, we will propose efficient scheduling and call admission control mechanism,for IEEE 802.16 mesh networks that will also provide QoS in terms of delay and delay jitter requirements. This report first gives the overview of scheduling and call admission methods,already proposed and their shortcomings,are also discussed. We also present efficient centralized scheduling and call admission scheme,for WiMax mesh networks on top of routing algorithm.
