Finite element analysis on effects of construction quality on reliability of grid structure with welded spherical joints

With the quality defects in construction of grid structures with welded spherical joints,stiffness degeneration method is proposed to simulate the effects of construction quality on reliability of grid structure with welded spherical joints.The construction defects are simulated by applying elastic modulus degeneration method to joints.Based on these defects and Monte Carlo method,command steam is developed by ANSYS Parametric Design Language(APDL).The numerical analysis on reliability of a grid structure is done,in which the biggest vertical displacement of structure is taken as main criteria on reliability.The results prove that the influence of construction quality on reliability of grid structures is great.The method can help to consider the effects of construction quality while evaluating reliability of complex grid structures for engineering design departments.
