Technical and economic trends of sea water desalting in the '90s

Marketing analyses indicate that at least 75% of the world desalting supply in the '90s will be supplied by distillation, mainly MSF plants, with growing contribution from reverse osmosis. Expectation on a leading role of MSF process, however, lies on the assumption that operation and installation costs of these plants could be definitely improved in the future with special reference to prevention of scale formation, automatic process control and construction materials.
