This paper deals with modeling of tapped high voltage power line using radial basis networks. Model of power- line tap appropriate for power-line communication was investigated. It is common to approximate power line conductor sag with the stair step line where every lump is replaced with one multiport. The approach presented in this paper introduces a modification of the method of multiports where radial-basis function (RBF) network is used to estimate A parameters of one line tap lump. Simulations are conducted in MATLAB for 400 kV power line with horizontal dispositions of conductors. Results of simulations presented at the end show that RBF network can be used in power line tap modeling with acceptable accuracy.
