摘要
With the NSF-IREE supplement to Dr. Hui Hu's ongoing NSF-CAREER project, an "ISU-TOKYO Research and Education Integrated International Collaboration Partnership" is being established to promote international research and education collaborations between Iowa State University (ISU) and the University of Tokyo in Japan on advanced flow diagnostics. As Iowa State's first ISU-JAPAN engineering student exchange program, two ISU graduate students, Mr. Lucas Clemons (USA citizen) and Hirofumi Igarashi (USA permanent resident), were sent to Japan to conduct collaborative research at the University of Tokyo for 3 months (05/19/2008 ~ 08/20/2008). This is Iowa State's first ISU-Japan engineering international student exchange program, which contributes greatly to the international programs and the cultural diversity goals of Iowa State University. The 3-month visit of the two American graduate students to the University of Tokyo supported through the current NSF-IREE project brings significant benefits to the students by enhancing their educational experience to train them to be proficient in the technical subjects, let them to be informed about international technological trends and business practices, and make them to be familiar with Japanese language and culture.
