A research on the method to select promising scientific technologies in the condensed matter physics by using journal's editing preference

In the condensed matter physics field, there coexists a pure research field and application field. Therefore it is possible that a source technology is discovered firstly and developed in one laboratory of condensed matter physics. Since the 20th century, many evolutionary progress in electronic industry e.g. semiconductor and display industry originated in the progress in condensed matter physics. Therefore it is worthwhile to find a promising technology from the condensed matter physics field. To find a topic which has a high potential to be applied, it is necessary to distinguish it from an emerging or heavily researched field. In this report, we introduce a methodology of how to seek a topic which has high potential applicability. By analyzing the editing tendency of three representative journals in the condensed matter physics field and comparing the number of papers related to a topic published each year, we can determine whether a topic has a potential applicability or not.
