Implementation of Fuzzy Control for Surface Platforms in a Computer Generated Forces Toolkit

Realistic models and realistic control is vital toreach a sufficient fidelity in military simulationprojects including surface platforms. In this study, afuzzy logic controller (FLC) is implemented inconjunction with environment models and platformmotion models possessing high-fidelity. The former oneconsiders waves, current, wind, season, day and nightwhile the latter trusts on complex motion equations,including the effect of hydrodynamic force-momentsand their high performance is proved by comparisonwith real cruise data. The FLC is optimized with arecently introduced method, namely Big Bang-BigCrunch algorithm. After all, the controllers areintegrated to the component architecture of VR-Forces,which is a commercial framework for developingComputer Generated Forces (CGF) applications.
