Darrell J., Huntersville N.C. 6/01/07 AThat\'s an interesting question, Darrell. Right now, I\'d handicap it this way -- Bobcats have a 40 percent chance, Panthers have a 50 percent chance. The Bobcats have a new energetic coach who fully expects them to make the playoffs (Sam Vincent), and they also get a break because 16 of 30 NBA teams make it as opposed to 12 of 32 NFL teams. However, Panthers have more talent in comparison to their league -- the Bobcats have zero all-NBA players, while Panthers have 2 of the best 20 or so players in the league in Steve Smith and Julius Peppers. However, I think Carolina has mostly stood pat in this offseason and that the Bobcats are still poised to make some moves. So check back with me later on this one -- I\'m saying this in early June, but by late July those odds may have flip-flopped. Scott Fowler 6/05/07 QMr Fowler, can you get me Julius Peppers autograph? John, Fayetteville, NC 6/04/07 AJohn: Nope. We are ethically barred from getting anybody\'s autograph that we cover. We don\'t ask favors of them and they don\'t ask favors of us (i.e. sympathetic coverage when they had a bad game or whatever). Scott Fowler 6/05/07 QHi Scott - I read Sorenson\'s column on Jenkins - entertaining, but darn brutal. It seems each year Kris comes to camp with a different problem. This man and his amazing talent will go to waste because careers in the NFL are so short. One day he may wake up and go "dang, I missed my opportunity". He could be the "Superman" of DT\'s a HOF candidate, but in his head he seems content to be "Deputy Dawg". Can anybody reach this guy for his sake, before complacency and age erode his talents? Just a shame to see his gifts languish. Ben, Raleigh, NC 6/03/07 ABen: I honestly don\'t know. Sometimes he seems very motivated, other times just going through the motions. Scott Fowler 6/05/07 QOther songs you won\'t hear at the Georgia Dome any time soon: (1) "Where my dogs at?" by DMX (2) "How much is that doggie in the window?" (3) "Atomic Dog" by George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars Anonymous, Charlotte, NC 6/03/07 AGood list. I wonder if opposing team P.A.s will play that sorta stuff in breaks this season when they play the Falcons or if they will take the higher road. Scott Fowler 6/05/07 QWhat is your favorite panthers jersey. Also who decides what jersey they wear every game. thanks. pantherjarrett, florida 6/02/07 AI like the blue ones that they only wear a couple of times a year. Jackie Miles, the Panthers\' equipment guru, and team president Mark Richardson sit down every year at about this time and choose the jerseys for the Panthers. I will post those before long -- I get the list from Jackie (a great guy) every year. Panthers only get to choose their jerseys for home games -- the home team in every NFL game always gets first choice. Scott Fowler 6/05/07 QI have to agree with John Donaldson concerning Sorenson\'s Jenkins piece. Does he fancy himself a comedian? Pretty lame, Tom. I just hope that the Big Kid doesn\'t read that and assume that all the fans feel the same way. Donaldson was right: classless sums it up pretty well. I could see it maybe if Sorenson were a sports guy in Atlanta or Tampa Bay maybe. Maybe he intends to motivate. Who knows? Judson Williamson, Chapel Hill, NC 6/02/07 AJudson: Thanks for the input. Scott Fowler 6/05/07 Qhow do you think are third round pick from last year linebacker Anderson will do this year and do u think he shows any promise? Anonymous, parma, oh 6/01/07 AYes, James Anderson does show some promise, and I think he\'s a strong contender to start at OLB this season. Scott Fowler 6/05/07 QScenario for you scott Panthers come out week 1. and First three offensive pocession are as follows. Jake throws a Interception, Jake Fumbles, Jake throws another interception (pick6) It\'s not like he\'s never done this before. defense playing great Panthers have not gotten more than 1 first down.....Could we see Carr?? and carr comes in leads panthers to a score would jake career as panther be over?? sounds like rodney pete situation to me Cheven, Charlotte, NC 6/01/07 AConceivable. If it started like that, we might see Carr for that game -- but I think it would be temporary. Let\'s remember that Carr was 22-53 as a starter in Houston and that Delhomme is better than Rodney Peete. I don\'t think a change, if one is made, would come until at least 4-5 games into the season, when coaches had determined that Delhomme just didn\'t have it for 2007. Scott Fowler 6/05/07 QScott...am getting a bit concerned of Michael Jordan\'s "crony-ism". I see today he has gotten permission to talk to Higgins for the possible GM position. Is it just me or does Jordan appear to be "limited" to making only those choices where he feels he can "validate" himself by making the same choices twice. Am concerned he\'s building a team around him that are petrified of challenging him...AND by hiring enough of his buddies, the liklihood they would "gang up" in unison on him on a disagreement becomes nil. Aren\'t there political ecosystems in the world that run like this...like say "third world countries"? Your thoughts? Rooney was off this past Sunday, Charlotte, NC 5/29/07 AThis is a valid question. Jordan\'s folks in the front office -- i.e. Whitfield, Higgins, Vincent, Buzz Peterson if he\'s hired -- need to be able to disagree and disagree hard without fear of being pulverized for all of this to work. We\'ve seen already that Michael hardly has the golden touch when it comes to running a franchise. Maybe the second time around will be better, maybe not. Bickerstaff will be an independent voice as exec VP, but there needs to be more than just that. Higgins, the new GM, called Michael "Mr. Jordan" early in Higgins\' teleconference with reporters Thursday, which wasn\'t a good sign. However, then he started saying "Michael" and he put his own thoughts out there without having to "approve" everything with Michael first -- I liked that. We\'ll have to wait and see if this is "crony-ism" or good business, with MJ hiring quality people that he just happens to know (many people have done the same in many businesses before). The proof will be in the W-L column. Scott Fowler 6/01/07 QWhat can you tell me about Panthers Linebacker Adam Seward? He played some last year when Dan was out but then Chris Draft took over. What was the problem and do you think that if Dan was to be out this year that they would let Adam play the postion? Anonymous 5/30/07 AIt looked to me like Seward was lost and got overpowered at times. I don\'t think he\'s there yet.
