Research on a Novel Multi-port Hybrid Circuit Breaker

A novel hybrid circuit breaker topology is proposed to address the shortcomings of hybrid circuit breakers, which are costly and difficult to be applied to multi-port grids. This topology adopts the structure of multi-branch multiplexed transfer circuit's combined with LC commutation, which reduces the number of power electronic components in hybrid circuit breakers in multi-port grids and greatly reduces the cost of circuit breakers. With respect to the topology of this novel multi-branch multiplexed circuit breaker, its working principle is introduced, a simulation model is established, and the effects of different transfer branch structures on the opening performance of the circuit breaker are analyzed. The results show that the structure combining anti-parallel thyristor and LC commutator has better breaking performance and lower cost.
