Sense of alienation, security, and life satisfaction among undergraduate: a cross-sectional study from China

Abstract Objective To explore the factors influencing alienation among college students and to explore the relationship between alienation and feelings of security and life satisfaction. Methods 2,932 students in university were surveyed by using web-based survey, the adolescent students alienation scale(ASAS), the Life Satisfaction Scale for Adolescent Students(ASLSS), and the Security questionnaire(SQ) in the form of a questionnaire star. Results The average score of alienation sense was 3.46. Dichotomous logistic regression analysis showed that gender, grade, major field, relationship with parents of alienation were different. Alienation were negatively correlated with satisfaction and sense of security. Life satisfaction had a direct effect on alienation, and the mediating effect of security accounted for 49.02% of the total effect, and the mediating effect explained 49.02% of the variance variance of the dependent variable. Conclusion life satisfaction was an important factor influencing alienation and was predictive of alienation; and security was a partial mediating variable.
