The pioneers of quantum dot research were awarded the Nobel Prize in 2023, recognizing their substantial contributions to the area. This prestigious prize underscored the significance of quantum dots in promoting different technological developments and motivating more research in this intriguing field. Quantum dots (QDs) are tiny crystals created by humans with unique optical and electrical capabilities, such as the capacity to transport electrons and generate light of different colors when exposed to UV radiation. These synthetic semiconductor nanoparticles might be used in various applications, including composites, solar cells, fluorescent biological labeling, displays, lighting, and medical imaging. Furthermore, the size of quantum dots during synthesis may be accurately adjusted, allowing for customizable characteristics and applications in various sectors. Because of their tiny size, they may also be readily incorporated into different materials and gadgets, offering new avenues for technological growth. As a result, the present study attempts to give a complete overview of the most recent research and advancements in quantum dot technology, emphasizing its potential effect. In addition, the study will go over the synthetic technique and qualities that must be addressed to effectively use quantum dots' potential and maximize their practical applications.
