Advanced Application of Triboelectric Nanogenerators in Gas Sensing

The rapid development of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence has prompted the shift of gas sensing devices to low-power, wearable devices, but the power dependence of traditional gas sensors limits their further development. Triboelectric Nanogenerators (TENGs) can convert distributed mechanical energy into electrical energy. When combined with gas sensing devices, it can effectively achieve self-powered gas sensing, showing enormous potential in breaking through power limitations and realizing mobile monitoring. This paper briefly reviews the basic principles and development trends of gas sensing technology, and then systematically describes the working mechanism, performance advantages, and application directions of TENGs-based gas sensing, focusing on summarizing the application progress of TENGs-based gas sensing in representative gas monitoring. Finally, the challenges and corresponding strategies of TENGs-based gas sensors are discussed, aiming to provide inspirations for promoting the development of self-powered gas sensors.
